THE CULTURE OF DEATH DIDN’T MATERIALIZE OUT OF THIN AIR

Back in the 1970s and 80s, long before the education establishment decided it was their “duty” to enforce the LGBT Agenda and promote the dangerous Gender Identity Theory at every grade level, one of the most popular courses was Death Education. Death Ed classes included students visiting cemeteries to do grave rubbings, writing epitaphs for gravestones, preparing eulogies, and composing their own obituaries and suicide notes. Films and lectures were used to bombard young people with information about death, purportedly from an adolescent’s point of view.

One handout for first grade students depicted nine people – a crying baby, a boy washing his dog, an elderly woman bent over her cane, a mother ironing clothes, a severely injured person in a hospital bed, etc. The students were to draw a circle around all who were unproductive. A similar test told older elementary students, “There is a terrible disease on your island home. The only hope is a new medicine, but there is only enough for three people. Which three should get the medicine?” This “choice” depicted five people, again with a helpless baby and a senior citizen among them. The student’s answer is followed by the question, “Why?” Then further directions are given: “Compare your choices with a classmate’s choices. Discuss your differences. Choose again.”

Of course, these strategies are straight out of the Values Clarification handbook, the Humanists’ “bible” in the classrooms for several decades. Values Clarification techniques and exercises were designed to relieve students of any values they may have learned from home, church, or early schooling. Former values needed to be discarded in favor of their “newfound” principles and beliefs. Each student was to become his/her own “God,” deciding what was right and wrong with no “absolutes” (the Ten Commandments) to stand in the way of making “choices.”

A popular questionnaire with 75 questions, prepared by PSYCHOLOGY TODAY, was entitled You and Death.  This questionnaire was a tool used to indoctrinate junior and senior high school students (at least in Minnesota where my children attended school) with the idea that when and how someone dies is a personal choice. It was “open season” on traditional values with Death Ed in the classroom. Children were probed with privacy invading questions to find out the extent of their belief in life after death, reincarnation, etc. They were instructed to answer questions such as the following.
  • If you could choose, when would you die?
  • If you had a choice, what kind of death would you choose?  (Suicide is one of the options!)
  • Has there been a time in your life when you wanted to die?
  • Based on your present feelings, what is the probability of your taking your own life in the near future?
  • What is your present orientation to your own death? (“Death-seeker” and “Death-hastener” are choices.)
  • Have you ever actually attempted suicide?
  • Suppose you were to commit suicide, what reason would motivate you to do it? (Eight options are listed.)
  • Suppose you were to commit suicide, what method would you be most likely to use?  A) Barbiturates or pills; B) Gunshot; C) Hanging; D) Drowning; E) Jumping; F) Cutting or Stabbing; G) Carbon Monoxide; H) Other
  • How religious do you consider yourself to be?
  • What is your political preference? (Party?)
  • How would you describe your political views? (Liberal or Conservative?)

We were recently reminded by HALO’s President, Julie Grimstad, of a lesson out of history. Hitler saw young people as the vanguard of his movement. His stated philosophy was: “When an opponent declares, ‘I will not come over to your side,’ I say calmly, 'Your child belongs to us already. What are you? You will pass on! Your descendants, however, now stand in the new camp. In a short-time they will know nothing but this new community.'” I remember school papers recovered in Germany after World War II wherein the students were asked to identify the “useless eaters” (read “unproductive” citizens). History has a way of repeating itself. So sad, but true!

An enormously large segment of our U.S. population has been indoctrinated into the pro-death camp. HALO has its job cut out for it if we hope to overcome the years of propaganda which prepared the ground and planted the seeds of the current culture of death. But there is reason for our hope. With God’s help, everything is possible!
